How to REALLY Believe (LOA)

I haven't felt inspired to post much this year. 2020 was a difficult year for basically everyone and 2021 hasn't been easy either. I've had several ideas for posts but they didn't feel right to write at the moment. It's been a while since I've done a Law of Attraction post, in fact not since last year when I wrote Law of Attraction 2.0 (a follow-up to my basic LOA post). You can read that here: https://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.com/2020/08/law-of-attraction-loa-20.html

However, after not having much inspiration for a while, I felt like writing something LOA themed again. :) This post is about looking at how you can have more belief in manifesting your desires.

Note: For a basic introduction to the Law of Attraction (LOA for short) visit this post: https://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.com/2013/08/law-of-attraction.html

When it comes to manifesting, believing that your dreams will come true/your desires will manifest can be very hard. Especially if you feel that you keep hitting a wall and don't see much of a result. I've been working on my mindset for quite a few years now and while I do feel better, I also have periods where I feel down again. Earlier this year I wrote a couple of posts called Starting From the Bottom, which are about moving upwards when you've been feeling low and improving your life. If you don't feel in that much of a positive mindset right now, you may want to read those first:

Starting From the Bottom- Part 1: https://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.com/2021/04/starting-from-bottom-part-1.html

Starting From the Bottom- Part 2: https://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.com/2021/08/starting-from-bottom-part-2.html

And now let's move onto the main part of the post. :)

I've come to understand that your beliefs can be a big part of manifesting. I've previously written about them and expanding your idea of what's possible. You can find those posts below:

What Is Possible? (LOA)  https://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.com/2015/01/what-is-possible-loa.html

Beliefs and Believing (LOA): https://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.com/2015/11/beliefs-and-believing-loa.html

I also wrote two posts about manifesting and mental health. You can read them here:

Manifesting and Mental Health- Part 1: https://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.com/2019/08/manifesting-and-mental-health-part-1.html

Manifesting and Mental Health- Part 2: https://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.com/2019/12/manifesting-and-mental-health-part-2.html

In the 2nd post I linked to a couple of posts from others about beliefs and I thought it would be good to share them again here:

Believing in good things

So, I think a good start is believing that good things can happen to you. Humans tend to focus on the negative more. I've written about the "negativity bias" before, which is where you place more emphasis on negative things that happen rather than positive things. It's also called the "negativity effect". Here is a good post about it: https://isntthatcharming.com/the-negativity-effect/

Now if you dwell on that too much, it can be a bit of a downer! But also, I think it takes some of the pressure off, like for me personally if I think that being prone to focus on the "not so good things" is something that humans naturally do, then I don't feel as guilty that I'm not happy all the time!

If you're interested in the subject of happiness, I wrote two posts about it as part of my Feeling Your Emotions series. I'll link to them at the bottom of this post. :)

You could also feel held back from believing that good things can happen due to your personal circumstances- issues with discrimination/racism, illness, mental health etc. I am not able to address these issues in this post, although I did discuss how some of these things can affect our manifesting in my Law of Attaction 2.0 post (under the Taking a closer look at LOA section). I would say that if you're going through a really hard time it might be advisable to take a step back from manifesting, until you feel in a better space. :)

I just came across these affirmations for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour/Color) so if you fit in that category (including mixed race people like myself), you may find them useful: https://millennial-grind.com/30-positive-affirmations-for-bipoc/

Here are two videos on the subject of feeling good and believing in good things (I previously linked to both of these in my 2nd Starting From the Bottom post):

Expanding your idea of what is possible

This is important, expanding your belief about what is possible in general and possible for you. I've mentioned before about bigger dreams like a relationship and a holiday feeling harder for me to manifest than smaller things. I've shared a couple of manifestation stories on here about buying perfume and having afternoon tea at The Grand hotel. Both of those things once felt "out of reach" to me, due to expense mainly. Perhaps you don't believe you're the kind of person to do/have something, but who is that kind of person? Can you become them?

This also ties in with something called "self concept" to do with the Law of Assumption (see below).

Here is a good post about missed opportunities in a manifestation context: https://tobemagnetic.com/tbm-blog/2017/5/1/missed-opportunities-manifestation

The gist is that sometimes people or things come into our lives to help us see what's possible for us, although they may not be the final manifestation. Lacy, who wrote the article, calls them "Expanders".

Earlier this year I came across a post by Dr. Anna Kress about how your emotional expectations may be holding you back from manifesting the things you want: https://drannakress.com/how-your-emotional-expectations-could-be-holding-you-back-from-manifesting/

Anna says that the gap between how happy we believe our desire will make us and how happy we feel in our current life, may be too big. I can definitely relate to this. An example would be believing that a relationship will make you really happy all the time. But like anything, relationships have ups and downs, so everything won't be perfect. Anna suggests improving your mood and adjusting your emotional expectations.

Law of Assumption

I've been coming across the Law of Assumption a lot online in the past few months. It was created by Neville Goddard and the basis behind it is that whatever you assume to be true, is true. What you assume becomes your reality. And to manifest you "assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled". This sounds similar to "acting as if"

Note: Since I'm used to writing "LOA" for the Law of Attraction, I'll refer to the Law of Assumption with its full title for this post.

Update 13/4/22: Maybe I should say that Neville developed theories based on the Law of Assumption, rather than say that he "created" it. I'm still learning about it! :)

I've heard of Neville before, in particular his book Feeling Is The Secret, but I'm not sure if I've actually read it. The Law of Assumption seems to have become popular in the past couple of years, particularly with younger people, the younger milliennials (I am in the "first generation" millennial age group) and Gen Z (I think there are a lot of videos on TikTok!). Quite a few people seem to come to it after using "traditional" LOA and becoming frustrated because they're not seeing results.

The Law of Assumption doesn't seem have as many techniques as the Law of Attraction. Visit this post to learn more about the differences between them: https://millennial-grind.com/3-differences-between-the-law-of-assumption-and-the-law-of-attraction/

In relation to believing in your desires, there is the term "self concept" which is your idea of who you are as a person and what is possible for you. Check out these links for more:

Update 15/10/22: I've removed a couple of links that don't work and updated this section.

Lorena Schuth previously had a post called Self Concept- Why There Is No One To Change But Self. Many of her posts are now gone, but here's a video of hers about self concept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSNRhH7H9bg

I thought I would include a section about the Law of Assumption in case you've been struggling with the Law of Attraction. It's quite new to me, so I can't cover it in depth but I'll probably do another post on it in the future.

So, I hope you enjoyed the post!:) I am currently working on believing more in myself and my dreams coming true, so if you are too, I hope these links are helpful. Let me know what's working for you. What are your thoughts on the Law of Attraction and/or the Law of Assumption?

Below I've linked to some extra posts that you might find useful. :)
