Feeling Your Emotions Introduction

I'm starting a series of posts about emotions and how it's important to get in touch with them. So this is the introduction post. :)

Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, so if you're having mental/physical issues please seek medical help in addition to reading this. :)

In a lot of spiritual books and articles on websites people mention how your emotions affect you. If you keep them bottled up then they can get stuck and cause you problems. For example suppressing your feelings can cause you to become depressed. Some people talk about the mind/body connection and say that how you feel can cause physical illness. I believe this. An example is Louise Hay's work. For more on that visit this post:

Life can be difficult and scary. You may feel overwhelmed by all the violence, terror and injustice in the world. I know I do sometimes. Hopefully by understanding and getting in touch with our emotions we can help ourselves to process things better. So I'll focus on emotions such as anger, sadness, love, grief, happiness/joy etc. For now here are some resources to help with understanding your feelings/emotions.


Deliberate Receiving by Melody Fletcher

In this Law of Attraction (LOA) book Melody talks about using you emotions to guide you in terms of manifesting. Feeling good means you're closer to what you want and feeling bad means you're further away. She goes quite in depth into emotions and how to move out of negative emotions such as depression and anger into more positive ones like hope and joy/happiness (or what we perceive to be positive and negative emotions), so even you're not into LOA it's probably still worth it having a look at the book for those two chapters (Ch. 8 and 10)

The Emotional Compass by Ilse Sand

I just finished reading this and I found it helpful. Ilse looks at different emotions and writes about finding your primary feeling in the present and distancing yourself from your thoughts. She also has a website:

Infinite Possibilities by Mike Dooley

This is another Law of Attraction book and Mike has a chapter on emotions (Ch. 3) and how they can teach you what beliefs you have about yourself and the world.

I may not post that quickly because it depends on how I'm feeling with my anxiety and stuff but I will try my best. :) First post in the series will probably be on anger. Think I'll start with the more negative emotions first!
